UA-Go – Privacy Policy

We respect your right to privacy and We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your data responsibly, in accordance with the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs) outlined in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).

This Privacy Policy sets out how we collect, use, disclose, transfer and store personal information that you provide to us via your use of the UA-Go App (“app”). Urban Analytica Pty Ltd (ACN 626 183 793) provides the app to you.

How and what personal information is collected and held

We may collect your personal information when you contact us, use our online services, use our telematics products or deal with our business partners and research partners who use our telematics products.

Your personal information may be recorded in our systems and databases and held in secure environments. We may use our related bodies corporate, agents and third-party suppliers for processing and data storage services, which are located in Australia. We use a variety of security measures, including sophisticated encryption and authentication tools to maintain the safety of your personal information.
When you visit our website we may use common internet technologies, such as cookies, to collect general statistical information and to assist you in using our online services. We do not collect personal information from cookies or use them for marketing purposes.

The UA-Go app collects precise location data (including GPS coordinates), the accelerometer and additional movement and mobility features while the app is active in order to provide driving insights, safety feedback, and usage analytics. We will also collect such data in accordance with your unique User and Device Identifier (ID) in order to provide personalised feedback on your specific driving patterns.
Additionally, UA-Go may collect Diagnostics Data including crash logs, performance data, and any other diagnostics data which will be used to improve the performance of our app in cases where there are significant instances of crash instances and app bugging. Information generated from support tickets and support interactions will also be collected to inform iterations of the UA-Go app.

We do not collect data such as your browsing history, search history, photos or videos, voice or sound recordings, and sensitive information outside of gender and age, as referenced above.

UA-Go reserves the right to access additional data where necessary, where that data is not specifically referenced herein, to ensure the optimal functioning of our app for your personal use. In any case where additional data is identified as critical, UA-Go and its team will endeavour to update this Privacy Policy as quickly as possible to include the additional data fields required and the reasons for that requirement.

How we collect and hold personal information

In sharing samples of your journey data with us, via the use of the telematics driving application available on Android and Apple smartphones known as UA-Go (“app”), we explain here how the information is collected and used to provide insights to you and form part of your driver rating. At the same time we use your data to provide road safety and eco-driving messaging to you to support your driving.

The app uses telematics to enable us to recognise certain aspects of your driving and reflects your car’s usage, including:

  • All your trip information is processed using encryption and appropriate technical safeguards. Where used for analytics, benchmarking or reporting, data is aggregated or de-identified so that individual users are not identifiable. Our computer systems only search for driving behaviour information and relevant information for road safety and sustainability purposes, such as the trend of how the car is driven.
  • By using our app it is possible to identify a location and the speed at which you are travelling. By using the app you agree and accept that you have voluntarily chosen to share this personal information with us for service delivery, analytics, safety feedback, and product improvement.
  • When you use our app you should be aware that our app will record the direction you are heading, date, time, latitude, longitude, speed, driver distraction, how you manoeuvre the car and vehicle emissions and that this information is collected and stored by us. We will not release your information to anyone, outside of the company (or an agreed research partner to which you will be notified) you have agreed to share your driving data with, unless there is court supported documentation we must comply with.
  • We do not on-sell your journey information to any third party or allow access by any third party unless they are supplying services to us in the course of fulfilling our obligations for service delivery, analytics, road safety analysis, product development, or approved research activities conducted in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
  • We may disclose personal information to law enforcement or regulatory authorities where required or authorised by law.
  • Your trip data is not displayed in any part of our websites or in any report that we produce, apart from inclusion into aggregate data. Driving feedback and tips are provided in your app from the aggregate of the trip or journey data represented by a rating system.
  • Telematics data may be collected while the app is running in the background during a driving session to ensure accurate trip recording. Background collection occurs only where you have granted the relevant device permissions and while a driving session is active.
  • We do not use your personal information or telematics data for targeted advertising, cross-app tracking, or data brokering.

We may record your phone number when you send it to us or make a call or send a text message or SMS from the app. We will associate it with your account. When you link our app, we will generate a user account based on your device and hardware so if you change your device or hardware, you may have to re-associate this new device or hardware with your account before you can continue to use the app.

The driving data recorded through your use of our app is stored on your phone using encryption. This data is then transmitted over the internet using secure sockets layer and then stored in a secure data server and is only accessible by a limited number of partners who have special access rights to such systems for specific purposes and are required to keep the information confidential.
.

How will we use and/or disclose the data?

We will use the data for the purpose of providing you (“the user”) with feedback. Your information, including the driving data, may be used for the following purposes:

  • • To estimate your car’s usage, including kilometres driven.
  • To help us to understand your driving behaviours and to provide private feedback to you and compare this with other drivers who also use the UA-Go app.
  • To help us to understand your vehicle emissions and to provide private feedback to you and compare this with other drivers who also use the UA-Go app.

We collect and process your driving data in accordance with our responsibilities. No personal insurance data related to premium setting is processed by us. We only provide information about you to those legally entitled to it, and where we are obliged to release it. We do not respond to requests for trip data to individuals outside of the standard information provided in the app.

Anonymity or pseudonymity

We collect personal information and telematics data that may include identifiers such as your device identifier, account details, vehicle information, location data and driving behaviour data. This information is necessary to provide core app functionality, including driving insights, scoring, safety feedback, usage reporting, customer support, and service improvement.

Some information you provide at registration or during use of the app (such as age range, State or Territory, vehicle make, model and engine type) may be used in an aggregated or de-identified form for analytics, benchmarking, product development, service optimisation, and reporting to commercial partners where applicable.

We do not routinely de-identify or delete your personal information at the end of a fixed “project”. Instead, personal information is retained in accordance with our commercial data retention practices, as described below, and only de-identified or anonymised where it is no longer required for any permitted purpose.
When you stop using the UA-Go app, you may uninstall the app at any time. Once the app is no longer installed or active, no further telematics data will be collected or transmitted from your device. Certain limited app functions (such as locally cached maps) may remain on your device until the app is deleted.
.

  • provide and operate the UA-Go app and related services;
  • generate driving insights, scores, reports and usage analytics;
  • meet legal, regulatory, taxation, insurance, audit and compliance obligations;
  • resolve disputes and enforce our terms; and
  • improve and develop our products and services.

Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, contractual arrangements with commercial partners, and applicable legal requirements.

When personal information is no longer required for any permitted purpose, we take reasonable steps to securely delete, de-identify or anonymise it in accordance with our data governance practices and applicable law.

Accessing your personal information

You may request access to personal information we hold about you at any time, subject to the exceptions permitted under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). This includes information provided during account registration and information generated through your use of the UA-Go app.

We retain certain account and usage information to enable us to identify you, provide customer support, administer your account, and deliver our services while your account remains active, and for a reasonable period afterward as required for legitimate business or legal purposes.

Correction of personal information

We take reasonable steps to ensure that personal information we hold is accurate, up to date, complete and relevant.

If you believe that any personal information we hold about you is incorrect, incomplete or out of date, you may request that it be corrected. This includes account details and, where technically feasible, certain telematics or mapping-related data that may affect your driving feedback or scores (for example, where a speed limit or road attribute has changed but has not yet been reflected in our systems).

Where appropriate and technically feasible, we may correct, re-process, re-score or exclude affected trip data. However, we are not required to retrospectively amend aggregated, de-identified, or historical analytics where correction is not practicable or would compromise data integrity.

Requests for correction can be made by contacting us using the details below.

Account and Data Deletion

You may request deletion of your account and associated personal information at any time by contacting us at support@urbananalytica.io

Upon verified request, we will take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify your personal information, unless retention is required by law, for dispute resolution, or for legitimate business purposes permitted under applicable privacy laws.
